The Kootenay Forest Lands in southeastern BC is one of the largest and most ambitious private conservation projects in Canada. Thanks to a broad partnership of funders, NCC was able to acquire the lands all 45,000 hectares in the fall of 2025.

But conserving the land is only the first step in rewriting the future for these forests.

The Kootenay Forest Lands need help to heal from a history of intensive forestry. With your support, we can restore habitats, honour cultural connections and strengthen the resilience of these lands and the people and communities they support.
