Help conserve Kwesawe’k (Oulton’s Island)

A campaign for the care of Kwesawe’k and its return to the Epekwitnewaq Mi’kmaq.

Nature Conservancy of Canada and the Epekwitnewaq Mi’kmaq are working in partnership to conserve and protect Kwesawe’k, also known as Oulton’s Island.

You can be part of this important Indigenous-led conservation story; not only will you help protect a rare, unique natural landscape, but you will also help conserve a culturally significant area for the Mi’kmaq and a piece of PEI’s history.

Your gifts will help protect Kwesawe’k (Oulton’s Island) for the long term. NCC will own, manage and care for the island for five years. After this time, it will be transferred, to the Epekwitnewaq Mi’kmaq, who will hold title, and steward the island for conservation, in perpetuity.

In the event that this project is overfunded your gift will be directed to the Atlantic Collaborative Conservation fund. Donations made to the Atlantic Collaborative Conservation Fund will be used in Atlantic Canada for research, development, and engagement on innovative conservation measures outside of traditional land securement and stewardship.
