This year, a whopping 6,647 BioBlitzers proved how powerful community science can be.
Thank you to everyone who snapped photos and recorded audio clips. Together, you documented an amazing 6,000 + species and shared over 59,000 observations of plants, mammals, birds, insects and other living creatures.
All of this data helps conservation experts map species distributions and monitor long-term changes across Canada. They can reveal shifts in migration or hibernation patterns, changes in flowering timelines, or variations in fruit and seed production — all potential signs that climate change is affecting plants and wildlife. The more we know about nature, the more we can support it.
Here’s just a sample of what was found.
You can view more findings here. Thank you again for participating, we hope you had as much fund as we did!
The 2026 event will take place July 27 - August 3. Sign up now and mark it in your calendar.
